As the song goes, let’s start at the very beginning, it’s a very good place to start!
A typical story of a boy with a second hand Box Brownie camera, way back in 1961! The trouble was the camera was a gift and I had little money for film, let alone developing it! The camera was the second 1959 version and took 8 x 1 ⅝” x 2 ½” exposures on 127 roll-film.
Move on to being 15 and I upgraded to 35mm film with a Praktica Nova 1B, followed swiftly with a Pentax SP500. I used the Pentax until film camera technology brought the Olympus OM10. In 1985 I invested in the Olympus OM2 SP and later the OM4Ti. Apart from the OM4ti I still have all the previous cameras.
It wasn’t until 1985 that I constructed my dark room, where I whiled away too many hours having too much fun. I developed and printed both B&W, Colour and slide film. My favourite pastime was printing positive prints from transspecies via method called Cibachrome.
Cibachrome.
Cibachrome, also known as Ilfochrome, is a photographic process used to create high quality colour prints from film transparencies. It’s a dye destruction positive-to-positive process, meaning it reproduces the original positive image without inverting it. Cibachrome prints are known for their exceptional colour brilliance and image clarity.
Now fully immersed in digital, both camera and drone I hope to regularly post my blog hoping that readers enjoy it.
